5 Bike Paths To Explore With Your Family in the Hamptons, North Fork & East End

Bike riding is not only a fun activity that the entire family can do together, but it's also a great way to get everyone moving and enjoying the fresh air. The East End of Long Island has a few bike trails your clan can explore for a few hours or even a full day. So grab a water bottle, put on some sunscreen and start pedaling! Hither Hills State Park, 164 Montauk Highway, Montauk
Hither Hills State Park features a number of bike paths that wind through woodland. Depending on your family's skill level, you can take a short half-mile bike ride or a two-and-a-half mile ride. After your bike ride, you can picnic at the park or even put on your bathing suits to enjoy the cool water of the ocean. The park also features hiking trails and a playground. Rocky Point Natural Resource Management Area, Rocky Point
The Rocky Point Mountain Bike trail, located in the 6,000-acre Rocky Point Management area off 25A in Rocky Point, features several clearly-marked bike trail loops to choose from depending on your skill level. Trails include family trails for beginner riders; among them are the the 3-mile Firestone loop, the 4.8-mile Pine Loop and the 5.8 Outback Loop. For a family of advanced riders, there is a 13-mile Main Loop, a 4-mile Westside Loop and more advanced Black Diamond Loops that feature uphill climbs. The beginner trails are all marked in white and the advanced trails in yellow. All of the trails wind through woodland. For more information, call 631-444-0270.

Veteran's Memorial Park, 5879 Middle Country Road, Calverton
Veteran's Memorial Park is a 62-acre park that features a dirt bike path, which is just shy of three miles. The park also features a concession stand, picnic area, restrooms and nature trails. For more information, call 631-727-5744.

Wildwood State Park, 790 Hulse Landing Road, Wading River
The 600-acre Wildwood State Park features miles of clearly-marked, dirt bike trails that wind through woodlands and along the bluffs that overlook the Long Island Sound. The shortest bike trails is a little over a mile and the longest is four miles. The park also features a beachfront on the Long Island Sound, which you and your family can take a dip in after your ride. There is also a picnic area and playground. Orient Beach State Park, Orient
Located on Route 25, Orient Beach State Park features has a paved bike trail that runs two miles, starting at the park's entrance. The park also features 45,000 feet of water front on Gardiner's Bay, as well as hiking trails, a picnic area and a playground. For more information, call 631-323-2440.
