Best Long Island Pumpkin Patches on a Budget

There is so much fun happening on Long Island during the Halloween season, but you shouldn’t have to break the bank to enjoy it all. Luckily, there are quite a few budget friendly festivals and farms with plenty to offer your family, whether they want to pick pumpkins, listen to live music or watch a costume parade.

Pumpkinfest

Held at the Suffolk County Farm and Education Center, the admission price included almost all activities, including  a pumpkin picked straight from the vine, corn maze, wagon rides, sand art, pine cone feeders and petting zoo. There was also roasted sweet corn, food trucks and a picnic area where families could enjoy a packed lunch. There are several small playgrounds on the farm, as well as a Children’s Garden and Butterfly House. $12 per person; children under 3 are free.


Montauk Fall Festival

All events held on the Green across from the Chamber of Commerce building in the center of town. Long Island beers and wine, Octoberfest foods, free carousel, Farmers' Market and More! Cash Catch drawing Sunday at 5pm. Free admission.


Oktoberfest

This organic farm and market boasts the best roasted corn and squash on the Island, as well as freshly squeezed lemonade, homegrown farm fare, live music and beautiful fall mums. And the kids can enjoy pumpkin picking, a maze, pedal karts and friendly farm animals. $15 for adults.

Port Jefferson Harvest Festival

Haunted building walking tour, scare crow alley and music performances. Join a marshmallow roast, costume dog parade at 2pm, wood carving demo and more. Free admission.


Schmitt Family Farm

A whole month of festivities includes U-pick pumpkins, free hayrides, a haunted maze, vegetable picking and a pumpkin patch playground equipped with fire trucks and tree house slides, as well as Long Island’s largest straw pyramid. There's no entrance or parking fees, and printable coupons are available on the website for reduced admission to the haunted mansion and corn maze.
