Halloween Festivities On The East End

Though many of the Spooky Corn Mazes and Haunted Houses are now closed, the big day is still yet to come. By the time trick-or-treating happens this week, most kids have had the chance to show off their costume at a Halloween Party or in a school parade. But that doesn't take away from the excitement of going house-to-house or attending one of the celebrations listed below. There are also quite a few safe venues for trick-or-treating throughout Long Island.

Count Hugh King will lead this flashlight tour of the village’s oldest cemetery at the most perfect time of year, when ghouls, goblins and their ilk are abroad and spirits rule the night. Children younger than 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Be sure to take your own flashlight. Admission is $15, by reservation only.

Celebrate Halloween at the Long Island Aquarium's annual celebration. Wander among slithering sharks, eerie eels and slimy snakes as the Aquarium becomes alive in a Fun Zone with mystery boxes, crafts, games and an interactive story time, as well as the Slime Lab filled with scientists and their spooky science exhibits! There will also be a Creepy Scavenger Hunt and face painting. Don't forget on Halloween, kids in costume enjoy half-off their admission with one paid adult. Reservations required.

Families are invited for a lights-on for a “not-so-scary” experience. At 6pm, the lights are then turned out for a spooktacular event for those who dare. Kids of all ages are invited to participate in the costume contest at 6PM. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Play Halloween-themed games while listening to creepy music. There will be a spooktacular prize for the best costume, so get creative! Registration is required.

Start lining up at 5:30pm to participate in this year's Cutchogue Halloween Parade. Afterwards, everyone is invited to the Cutchogue Fire House for treats and refreshments. This event is free for all.
