Don't let this cold snap keep you from having some fun because there's plenty to do this weekend all around Long Island. Take in some family-friendly theater, experiment with science or party with Olaf--the entire family can join in on these events and more.

All Weekend

The Wizard of Oz - Smithtown. Live performance at Smithtown Performing Arts Center. Runs through Jan. 25, 2015. Cost: Adults/$35, Children under 12/$20.

Little Bo Peep - Port Jefferson. At Theatre Three, this is a live performance. Through Feb. 21. Cost: $10/ticket.

Create an Ocean of Motion - Port Jefferson. At The Maritime Explorium, set things in motion using chemistry. Cost: $5/person.

Seal Cruise - Freeport. Hope aboard the Captain Lou in Freeport, hosted by the Riverhead Foundation to search for harbor seals and other mammal life. Monday, Jan. 19 too. Runs through April 12. Cost: $19-$26.

Messy Afternoons at LICM – Garden City. At the Long Island Children’s Museum, all weekend long. Cost: Free with museum admission.

Explorer Family Backpacks – Uniondale. Pick up a backpack and explore the world through this Hofstra University gallery. Cost: Free.

Saturday, January 24

Fairytale Ball - Amityville. At Elite Dance Studio, kids ages 18 months - 3 years can attend with a parent or caregiver. Cost: $5/family and proceeds go to Dancers Against Cancer.

Weekend Workshop: Ice Cream Sundaes - Sayville. Drop in for this craft at Mini Monet. Cost: $15.

CMEE Play: Citrus Bird Feeders - Bridgehampton. At Children's Museum of the East End, through the creation of homemade bird feeders using various citrus, they’ll encourage kids to think about the feathered friends found right outside our windows. Cost: $22/includes museum admission.

Creepy Crawlies - Bridgehampton. At the South Fork Natural History Museum, learn who’s who in your house, and who may cause problems. Kid friendly, with interesting information for adults; they will feature a short presentation, an activity for children, and some live examples of South Fork winter housemates. Cost: $7/per person.

Peter Pan - Bellmore. Live performance at The Showplace at Bellmore Movies. Shown on Monday, Jan. 19 too. Runs through Jan. 31. Cost: $10/per person.

Aladdin - Elmont. Live performance. Cost: $10/ticket, $12/at the door.

The Little Mermaid - East Islip. Live performance at BayWay Arts Center. Through Jan. 31. Cost: $10/advance, $12/at the door.

Science Saturday at the Long Island Science Center – Riverhead. Enjoy a day at the Long Island Science Center. Cost: $5/person.

Craft for Kids at Lakeshore Learning Store – New Hyde Park. Thanksgiving craft at the Lakeshore Learning Store. Cost: Free.

Sunday, January 25

Olaf Party - Port Washington. At Dolphin Bookshop, kids can create A Friend for Olaf craft, Olaf's favorite stories, an Olaf snack and a 15" talking Olaf to take home. Pre-registration required. Cost: $20/child.

Breakfast With Elsa - Smithtown. Pictures with Elsa, bagel breakfast, yogurt dessert, face painting, tattoos, crafts and dancing. At Yogurtini. Cost: $25/per child.

Lego Club - Bridgehampton. Enjoy two hours of Lego fun every Sunday at the Children's Museum of the East End. Cost: $10/admission.

Sunday Kids Club - East Hampton. Drop off kids for a 9am-12pm kids camp at Hampton Kids. Cost: $30-40.
