Long Island Kids' Activities March 1 & 2: The Wizard of Oz, Mardi Gras Crafts, Jack Hanna's Live Animals and More

Spring is (almost) in the air, but while the temperatures continue to rise and plummet, here are some indoor safe bets for fun. There's plenty of local theater to keep your family engaged and entertained, such as Nobody Loves a Dragon and the timeless tale, The Wizard of Oz in Lindenhurst or Bellmore). Open houses also begin this weekend for several summer camp programs across the island.

Snow White - Northport. Enjoy this show with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Disney's Mulan Jr. - East Islip. Travel back to the days of ancient China with this stage adaptation of Mulan and her sidekick, Mushu.

The Wizard of Oz - Lindenhurst. Follow Dorothy and her friends as they venture to the Emerald City.

The Wizard of Oz - Bellmore. A stage adaptation of Dorothy, the Lion, the Tin Man and the Scarecrow.

Nobody Loves a Dragon  - Oakdale.  Clarance, the golden tailed dragon, is a peace loving fellow who collects wild flowers and helps young Prince Robin with his homework and has poetry competitions with kindly old Sir Slipshod until … evil Sir Cad and his accomplice, Lady Sorrowell, a sorceress, pursue him for his golden tail. 

Mardi Gras crafts - Oyster Bay. Younger kids can enjoy studio time at Not Just Art, while older kids can create a Carnivale mask.

Bird Walk for Beginners - Bridgehampton. Enjoy a nature hike to spot waterfowl along Dune Road.

Jack Hanna's Into the Wild! - Westbury. Check out this live animal show at the Westbury Theater.

Family Seal Walk - Montauk. A State Park naturalist will lead visitors on a 2-3 hour leisurely beach walk to an area where up to four species of seals can be observed. Along the way, there will be opportunities to see many winter birds and to explore marine geology. Please dress appropriately, and wear comfortable footwear for hiking. 

Yogi Stars - Bellmore. Ages 4-7. Kid Stars classes are for yogis ages 4-7 years old with a little more experience separating from caregivers, and a strong curiosity about the world around them.

Family Sundays at the Museum - Roslyn. It offers a gallery tour, followed by hands-on art making;guided by an art educator;for youngsters and the adults in their lives.

Skate Date Fundraiser - Bellmore. This ice skating fundraiser will benefit Smiles are Free.
