Long Island Kids' Activities March 28-29: Egg Hunts, The Wizard of Oz, Elephant & Piggie, The Adventures of Perseus

Get ready to hunt... for eggs that is! Various eggstravaganzas, spring spectaculars and egg hunts are scheduled for this weekend across Long Island. Live theater, crafts and nature-filled activities are also available. Spring is desperately trying to show its face, so welcome it with some outdoor family fun.

All Weekend

Elephant & Piggies "We Are in a Play" - Smithtown. This musical experience is ripped from the pages of Mo Willems's children's book. Runs through April 11. Cost: $15.

Nano Days - Port Jefferson. At the Maritime Explorium, kids can explore the science of the small and see how nanotechnology affects your everyday life through cool activities. Cost: $5/person.

Weekend Workshop - Sayville. Each weekend a dedicated instructor at Mini Monet will lead your child  in a craft/creation. Cost: $15.

Seal Cruise - Freeport. Hop aboard the Captain Lou in Freeport, hosted by the Riverhead Foundation to search for harbor seals and other mammal life. Runs through April 12. Cost: $19-$26.

Messy Afternoons at LICM – Garden City. At the Long Island Children’s Museum, all weekend long. Cost: Free with museum admission.

Saturday, March 28

Mad Hatter Egg Hunt - Bridgehampton. At the Children's Museum of the East End, children can roam the grounds during this egg hunt, participate in crafts and more. Cost: $10 for nonmembers, free for members.

Spring Egg Hunt - North Babylon. At Belmont Lake State Park, kids ages 9 and younger can partake in an egg hunt at the park. Cost: Free.

Easter Egg Hunt - Huntington. At Walt Whitman Mall, children can search for 1,000 hidden eggs. The Easter Bunny will be on hand and there will be balloons, face painting and tattoos. Pre-registration required. Cost: $8.

Egg Hunt - East Meadow. At Eisenhower Park, kids can search for eggs in age-appropriate groups. Hosted by KJOY, this event also includes the Easter Bunny, live entertainment and more. Cost: Free.

Egg Hunt & Spring Spectacular - Melville. At White Post Farms, join in the egg hunt Easter Bunny photos, crafts and more. Through April 5. Cost: $16 (cash only).

Spring Eggstravaganza - Merrick. At Fraser Park, kids can search for eggs on the lawn. Bring your own baskets. Cost: Suggested donation of $1 per child.

Spring Egg Hunt - Orient. At Orient State Park, kids can enjoy an egg hunt, prizes and refreshments. Cost: Free (parking fee involved).

Easter Egg Hunt - Bellmore. At Old Mill Nurseries, children can partake in an egg hunt, photos with the Easter Bunny, prizes and more. Cost: Free.

Spring Festival - Sayville. At The Common Ground, families can enjoy this annual festival, which includes the Easter Bunny, ceramics, face painting, pony rides, a petting zoo and more. Cost: Free (some activities have a fee).

Magic Lessons - Port Washington. At the Dolphin Bookshop, Anthony Sousa will teach magic lessons to kids. Cost: $15.

The Wizard of Oz - Bellmore. Live production at The Showplace. Runs through March 29. Cost: Tickets are $10.

Leopard Learns a Lesson - Sag Harbor. Live puppet show at various times at Goat on a Boat Puppet Theater. Cost: $12 for everyone, $10 for members and grandparents and $8 for children under three years or additional child.

The Adventures of Perseus - Garden City. At the Long Island Children's Museum, this live performance will be shown again on April 1 and 2. Cost: $12/adults, $9/children (does not include museum admission).

Pirate & Princess Party - Bellmore. At Le Play Cafe, kids can enjoy open play, pirate and princess tattoos, parachutes, gams, decorate your own pirate hat or princess crown, face painting, snacks and juice. Cost: $20/child, $15/siblings.

The Story of Susie Salamander - Bridgehampton. At the South Fork Natural History Museum, educators will bring participants in a journey to the pond. Cost: $7.

Science Saturday at the Long Island Science Center – Riverhead. Enjoy a day at the Long Island Science Center. Cost: $5/person.

Sunday, March 29

Breakfast With the Easter Bunny - Great Neck. At Pump It Up, kids will have breakfast with the bunny. Includes bagels, egg hunt, crafts and bouncing. Cost: $19.95/child.

Easter Egg Hunt - Riverhead. At Safari Adventure, kids can enjoy an age-specific egg hunt, crafts and play time.

Magic Carpet Show - East Meadow. At Tricky Business, kids will be treated to a magic show. Cost: $5 (reservations required).

Zen Garden - Garden City. At the Long Island Children's Museum, kids can create a zen garden. Cost: $3 + museum admission.

Family Sundays at the Museum - Roslyn. Weekly events for families at the Nassau County Museum of Art.

Seatuck Family Nature Club - Islip. These programs will be geared around the current season and include topics such as seasonal birds, tremendous trees and signs of the season. Cost: Free.

Lego Club - Bridgehampton. Enjoy two hours of Lego fun every Sunday at the Children's Museum of the East End. Cost: $10/admission.

Sunday Kids Club - East Hampton. Drop off kids for a 9am-12pm kids camp at Hampton Kids. Cost: $30-40.
