Adventure Summer Camp

The Adventure Summer Camp is a day camp run by the Cedar Island Marina Research Lab. It gives children between the ages of 9-15 a unique opportunity to work side-by-side with real marine biologists in one of the most pristine, natural, and protected shoreline environments in CT. Campers start the day by crossing the Hammonasset River in canoes. Guided by highly trained counselors, with a 3:1 camper to counselor ratio, campers will travel to different ecosystems in Hammonasset State Park and Long Island Sound. They will conduct experiments, catch local marine life, and then bring them back to the research lab where they will analyze them and create their own touch tanks! The day winds down with recreational activities such as swimming by the beach or in the marina’s pool. Counselors at the Adventure Summer Camp are highly trained with working with children. They are also all practicing scientists that have years of experience working in the marine biology field.
