Museum Sleepovers on Long Island

Do your kids love watching Night at the Museum? If so, they can enjoy the experience first-hand at five Long Island museums. While most are geared towards the Boys and Girls Scouts, there are opportunities for any child to participate with a parent. It's sure to be an experience you'll both be talking about for years to come. And don't forget to look into other Long Island museums your children will enjoy.

Long Island Aquarium & Exhibition Center

The Aquarium's "Sleep with the Fishies" program features pizza, a craft to take home, a movie, and of course, an up close and personal view of all of the animal exhibits. You can also add in a cruise on the Atlantis Explorer Tour Boat, as well as a visit with the butterflies and birds in the Exhibition Center. Prices start at $64.50 per person.

The Long Island Children's Museum

Scouts can explore the museum until bedtime while also fulfilling advancement requirements. You'll also enjoy a bedtime snack and continental breakfast. The Science Museum of Long Island

Your troop can earn a badge, enjoy a night hike and a campfire, and cap the event off with a morning stroll on the beach. Price is $375 for 15 scouts, $25 for each additional child (25 max). There is no charge for adults.

Take a guided tour of the museum, then catch the show at the Planetarium or Dome Theater. Scouts can also earn merit badges.
