Pumpkin Decorating/Carving Events on Long Island

Carving and decorating a Jack O'Lantern is an age-old tradition during Halloween, and what better way to celebrate the season than by taking your family to a pumpkin carving event? Whether it's watching a skilled pro carve an amazing creation or letting your child work their own artistic magic by painting a pumpkin, there are a few Long Island events to enjoy with your family.

Family Pumpkin Carving at Quogue Wildlife Refuge

Family members can choose a pumpkin from the refuge's patch to carve or you can bring your own pumpkins. Cost: $5 per person. Pre-registration is required.

Pumpkin Decorating at Farmingdale Library

Farmingdale Library is hosting a family pumpkin decorating session. Families can bring their own pumpkins and the library will supply all the decorating materials. The event is free, and preference is given to residents. Please call ahead.

Learn Carving Skills at Old Westbury Gardens

While your family can't carve pumpkins at the annual Rise of the Jack O'Lanterns event, they can watch and learn carving skills. The event features over 5,000 uniquely carved pumpkins. Advance tickets are required and can be purchased online. Tickets range in price between $18 and $30.
