Indoor Swimming Pools for Families on Long Island
(Image courtesy of the Town of Hempstead)
If you haven't had a chance to get away this winter and spend some time by a pool, there's still hope and you don’t have to brave the crowds at the airport to do so. Why not visit one of the many indoor swimming pools Long Island has to offer?
We’ve rounded up some of the Island’s affordable family-friendly indoor pools. Check out each location’s website for family swim schedules and rules. Some require swimmers to wear a bathing cap and have specific hours for free swim times. They also offer several options for swim lessons, from the little ones just getting their feet wet to the more advanced swimmer looking to improve their strokes. Who knows! Maybe you have the next Michael Phelps or Natalie Coughlin in the making!
One of the most convenient and least expensive options for the whole family to go for a swim could very well be in your own neighborhood. Have a look at your school district’s website and look under the “Athletics” link to determine if it offers a community swim program. Times, fees, and policies vary for each school.
