The most interesting and life-changing parenting book I've read.

The Big Kid

My daughter loved this so much, we read it aloud to the whole family. Then moved on to the next one. (grade 3 and up)

Bad Kitty is hilarious as he works his way through an alphabet of naughtiness.

Things to do with kids: Long Island Kids' Activities February 18 and 19, 2012: Who Done It? and Lots of Museum Activities

Long Island's museums provide lots of entertainment for the kids this weekend: At the Long Island Children's Museum, there's a puppet show and a great Black History Month program; the Children's Museum of the East End has its LEGO club; and the Nassau Museum of Art has its Family Sunday. There's also a fun program at the Sweetbriar Nature Center.

Saturday

All That Jazz!
Long Island Children's Museum
Garden City
3:00pm - 4:00pm
$3 with museum admission (LICM members $2)
Celebrate Black History Month by exploring the life of one of the jazz greats, Louis Armstrong! Born in New Orleans, known as the “birthplace of jazz,” Louis Armstrong is renowned all over the world for his talent. Children can listen to beautiful jazz music, learn how to scat, and make a craft trumpet for their very own jazz solo!

LEGO Club
Children's Museum of the East End
Bridgehampton
10:00am - 12:00pm
Museum admission: nonmembers $9, members free
Join us every Saturday for LEGO Club at CMEE! Your child can construct works of art using the thousands of LEGOs at the museum. To help CMEE continue to build this program, we are looking for LEGO donations!

WonderSpark Puppets Present Little Red Riding Hood
Long Island Children's Museum
Garden City
1:00pm
$6 with museum admission, LICM members $4; theater only $10
Appearing for the first time at LICM WonderSpark Puppets infuses fun and whimsy into all their performances. Join them for a fun show based on a familiar childhood fairy tale. Little Red is sent into the big woods to deliver a basket of goodies to her sick grandmother, but is hounded by a hungry wolf who wants the basket for himself. Will Little Red be able to outsmart the wolf and save her grandmother?

Sunday

Family Sundays at the Museum
Nassau County Museum of Art
Roslyn Harbor
1:00pm
Free with museum admission, $10, $8, $4 - members free
Now there's even more reason for families to plan the weekend around a visit to the Nassau County Museum of Art. Each Sunday the museum offers a 1pm docent-led family walk-through of the exhibition, and supervised art activities for the whole family begin at 1:30 pm. Special family guides of the main exhibition are available in the galleries.

Who Done It?
Sweetbriar Nature Center
Smithtown
1:00pm - 3:00pm
Members and scouts $5/child, nonmembers $6
A mystery has occurred at Sweetbriar Manor. Be a detective and collect clues to help solve the mystery.
