Long Island Kids' Activities September 15 and 16: Fall Festival, East End Greenfest, and Cow Harbor Day,

Fall is in the air; can you feel it in the mornings and evenings? Long Island is in the swing of it, hosting lots of fall festivals and celebrations. There's a fall festival at Hallockville in Riverhead, the 2012 East End GreenFest in Mattituck, and it's Cow Harbor Day in Northport. As always, be sure to check our events calendar this weekend and every day for lots more activities. It's going to be a beautiful weekend; get out and enjoy it!.

Port Washington Intergenerational Klezmer Ensemble presents an exciting concert of the spirited music of traditional Eastern European Jewish weddings and celebrations that will be enjoyed by all ages! Registration is suggested, register at nassaumuseum.org/events. Weekends only there is a $2 parking fee (members free).

A North Fork tradition featuring artisan vendors with handmade items, children's games and activities, traditional crafts, animals and something for the whole family to enjoy. Step back in time and learn about traditional skills like decoy-carving, quilting, rug hooking and more! Food, beer, wine and locally-grown produce will be available for purchase. Entrance fees support the nonprofit Hallockville Museum Farm's educational programs.

The East End GreenFest is an outdoor celebration of green living. Green vendors, and live music and performers will entertain from our solar-powered stage. These plus the new addition of a green carnival with biodiesel-powered rides and solar-powered lights make the East End GreenFest a great place to have fun and learn about green alternatives.

September 16 is Cow Harbor Day, and the city of Northport will be closing Main Street down from 12 to 5pm for pedestrians. Several of the merchants will be vending food and goods in front of the stores. The theater will be setting a stage and will feature some of their children's programming (the upcoming show is a Dr. Seuss oriented program. The Campari booth will have featured food items and an interactive food-making booth for the kids, including a build-your-own-personal-pizza station! The kids will get to play with the dough, form their pizzas with cheese or pepperoni and the restaurant will bake them in its ovens.
