Mom’s Night in the Heights

Start your evening with a stroll along historic 19th Street. A walk down this strip will offer up enticing window browsing, people watching, and fun shopping finds at eclectic stores, galleries, vintage shops, and more.

Enjoy a seasonal, garden-to-table meal at Coltivare, a neighborhood favorite that dishes up rustic Italian dishes with a Gulf Coast twist. Dig into a fancy pizza or pasta dish and relish each bite that you don’t have to share with your beloved tiny humans. Hand-crafted cocktails and a robust wine list add fun sips to this tasty menu.

Wrap up your night in the Heights at Johnny’s Gold Brick cocktail bar, serving up $8 classic cocktails all day long. Opt for a Moscow mule, frozen margarita, or other timeless drink as a nightcap to your fun-filled break from reality.

Moms Night Down by the Bay Area

Begin your evening with ultimate relaxation and pampering at Woodhouse Spa, located in the outside shopping plaza at Baybrook Mall. Gather tranquility in the quiet room and experience a tension-melting massage, mani/pedi, facial, or other treatment to restore your weary soul.

Up next, grab a bite to eat at the trendy Hyde Park Kitchen + Bar in Webster. Snack on a charcuterie plate to warm up before going in on a woodfired pizza (their pickle pizza is amazing), pastas made in-house, or a flavorful sandwich. A gelato shop is right next door, so make sure you save some room for dessert!

Before you call it a night, call up the girls and make your way to Rosewater. This cozy craft cocktail bar in Clear Lake is always coming up with something new, from frozies of the day that are often on-theme to fresh twists on the classics. The welcoming patio (it has swings!) and gourmet snacks help to make it a favorite local watering hole.

Mom’s Night at the Museum (District)

When you’re out in the Museum District, you can’t pass up the opportunity to see the latest exhibits without stressing about your young charges all keeping their hands to themselves. Savor the art and the evening at The Menil Collection. This admission-free museum encompasses 30 acres and features a vast collection that is frequently rotated, so you’re likely to see something new every time you visit.

Keep the good vibes going with happy hour at Monarch Bistro at Hotel ZaZa, where you can enjoy views of the Mecom Fountain and the Museum of Fine Arts from the climate-controlled terrace as you sip your glass of wine. If you happen to be there on a Saturday, you won’t get happy hour prices, but you will get to enjoy tunes from a live DJ.

Once you’ve finished your drinks and rested your feet, make your way to MF Sushi for incredible presentations of fresh fish and Japanese eats. This intimate sushi bar is known for its multi-course omakase, so grab a friend and get ready to taste the chef’s greatest creations made just for Mom.

Moms have a Ball in North Houston’s Tomball

Set your sights on the arts at the DaVinci Artists Gallery on Tomball’s Main Street, where the works of 14 local artists are proudly displayed. Join for a Second Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. to meet the makers. Another artistic endeavor that would be great for a whole group of moms includes a visit to Glassblowing Houston for a 60-90 minute demo (Wed.-Fri. only) and hot-shop tour. For groups of at least five, you can schedule an event to learn how to make your own glass bauble or bubble.

After trying your hands at the arts, set out to find treasures at local antiques stores, like the Birds of a Feather Antiques and Vintage Marketplace in the heart of Old Town Tomball. You can take all the time you want to admire the wares without having to run off for snacks or diaper changes. If that’s not bliss, I don’t know what is.

Savor sweet sips to brighten up your North Houston mom’s night out at the Thirsty Bee Meadery. This unique stop on your Tomball itinerary features meads made from fresh local honey – and when I say fresh, I mean it. The owners are beekeepers who run the whole operation from hive to bottle. If you’ve got an interested mom group, call ahead and book a private tasting and pairing.

Uptown Moms Raise the Rooftop

Shop the day away at The Galleria, the largest shopping center in Texas. The mall is home to more than 400 stores and restaurants (feel free to skip the toy stores!), including everything from designer brands like Chanel and Louis Vuitton to trendy Zara and mall staples like American Eagle and Gap.

Mom's night out: Rooftop Cinema Club

After you’ve shopped until you’ve dropped, rest your feet and catch the latest flick or a cult classic movie with your mom friends on the rooftop at the Rooftop Cinema Club Uptown, just above the Whole Foods. You can soak in your favorite scenes along with skyline views. Concessions and lawn games are available, and for many movies (double check your ticket), you’re welcome to bring your own food (but not drinks).

Toast to an excellent mom’s night out with dinner and wine at The Tasting Room Uptown Park. Sip your favorite vintage or try something new at this wine bar, which features hundreds of vinos in every price range. An executive chef prepares gourmet bites, and live musical performances aren’t uncommon at this chic, casual eatery.
