Bring on the builders! Hirshhorn Kids, along with partners District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) Arts and Boolean Girl, invite young architects to explore design inspired by the Hirshhorn's building, collection, and the world.

What's happening:

  • Tour a City Design Exhibition featuring artwork and Build Day projects by DCPS elementary students citywide.
  • Make an LED sculpture inspired by Olafur Eliasson by creating a suspended sculpture from paper, string, LEDs, and other materials with Boolean Girl
  • Explore student-made 3D-printed building replicas with George Washington University’s Fab Lab.
  • Take a cue from Alexander Calder by constructing 3D structures from blocks, bricks, and more, at our hands-on maker stations.
  • Building and play zones for artists of all ages.

In the event of inclement weather, this event will move indoors.
