Warm weather is here, and it’s time to kick the winter blues to the curb and start planning those spring and summer birthday parties. Party planning can be a hassle, but there are so many options in the area for great outdoor fun. A fine weather birthday is the perfect excuse to do something exciting and new outside. We’ve rounded up some really fun (and easy) spots to host a birthday party for active kids who love the outdoors.

Smith Memorial Playground — East Fairmount Park, Philadelphia

If you haven’t been to Smith Memorial Playground, you’re missing out. This playground sits on 6.5 acres of land; it’s the size of 6 football fields! It even has a giant wooden slide for kids to ride down on burlap sacks. The birthday parties here are a piece of cake; you can choose from Smith's party room or one of its variety of outdoor areas for a party with up to 40 kids depending on the space. Parties can be booked on Saturdays and Sundays in 2-hour blocks, and everything can be booked online. A party reservation includes a Smith T-shirt and a crown for the birthday child, as well as a Smith staff member to help out.

Union Fire Association — Bala Cynwyd, PA

Union Fire Association in Lower Merion Township hosts the perfect birthday party for any kid who loves fire trucks and firefighters. The party includes a lesson about fire prevention from members, a tour of the fire trucks and a chance to shoot the fire hose! You can also arrange to have costumed characters come visit the party. This one is a great option for a party that’s both fun and educational.

Diggerland — West Berlin, NJ

Gear up for some fun with your truck-loving kids at Diggerland. Kids can control, drive and ride real construction equipment. The party package includes all-day park admission (including the water park in the summer), pizza, drink pitchers, and tableware, plus a $10 arcade card for the birthday kid. You can add on additional food, drinks, dessert, goodie bags, and merchandise (hard hats! construction vests! lanyards!).

National Kids Gym — Mobile

This mobile gymnastics company brings the party to you. They set up their gymnastics equipment, obstacle courses, and games in any open area, from a backyard or open garage to a cleared-out basement. If you don’t have a space at your house, they can work with you to find a local space for rent (church hall, local park, school gymnasium, etc.). They just need about 15' x 20' of open space. Parties are typically 1-2 hours and best for 8-15 kids.

Linvilla Orchards — Media, PA

Every party starts with a private hayride through the orchards and includes pizza, drinks and cupcakes, corn to feed the farm animals, entrance to Linvilla's must-visit playground, tables in the shared reserved birthday party area, and a party balloon. Birthday farm-themed paper goods are also included: cups, plates, forks, napkins, tablecloths, and candles. And the birthday child gets a free hayride ticket for a future visit! You can also book extras like face painting, train rides, and more depending on the season.

Treetop Quest — Philadelphia, PA

Parties at Treetop in Fairmount Park include 2.5 hours of self-guided climbing and zip lining (with highly-trained help on hand!) plus free gloves for all guests and a return ticket for the birthday kid. You can also reserve picnic tables at an additional cost. Kids as young as 4-6 can participate in the Chick Pea course, which includes a continuous belay system with the child is constantly attached to the lifeline throughout the course.

Treehouse World — West Chester, PA

With a variety of party packages to choose from and 14 acres of outdoor fun, Treehouse World is the perfect birthday party for any adventurer. Treehouse World has 14 treehouses, a zipline course, an obstacle course, a small animal mini-farm, and so much more. There's no limit to the fun kids can have at this outdoor haven!
