The spring weather has finally arrived, so head outdoors for some fun in the sun, and to celebrate our planet with various Earth Day festivities across Long Island. For adventure-seeking families, there's harbor-front roller-skating in Port Jefferson, a family night hike in Setauket and woodsy fun in Islip.

Interested in the arts? There's a mommy & me painting session in Bellmore, eco-friendly crafts at the Whaling Museum and various programs at the Nassau County Museum of Art.

Celebrate Earth Day - Port Jefferson. At the Maritime Explorium, enjoy a weekend-long celebration of the Earth.

Weekend Workshop - Sayville. Each weekend a dedicated instructor at Mini Monet will lead your child in a craft/creation.

Roller Skating on the Harbor - Port Jefferson. Roller skate around the same rink that offered ice skating over the winter.

The Littlest Pirate - Port Jefferson. At Theatre Three, this is a live performance.

Earth Day Celebration - Bridgehampton. At the South Fork Natural History Museum, families can enjoy fish, amphibians, reptiles, a touch tank, nature walks/talks and an animal show. Free.

Earth Day Celebration - Quogue. At the Quogue Wildlife Refuge, celebrate nature and the planet. Free.

Earth Day Studio - Oyser Bay. Bring in recyclables to make art at Not Just Art.

Fairy Gardening - Riverhead. At Garden of Eve, learn to build your own fairy garden at this workshop that includes materials.

Family Night Hike - Setauket. Gain a whole new appreciation for the night as hikers learn about and mimic how different animals function in the dark.

Sunday, April 19

Mommy & Me Painting - Bellmore. At As You Wish, moms and tots can paint a canvas of a poodle.

A Celebration of Earth Day - Roslyn. At the Nassau County Museum of Art, enjoy guided events, yoga, kid-friendly activities and more.

Cinema for Kids: Mary Poppins - Huntington. At the Cinema Arts Centre, kids can enjoy a showing of the classic film, Mary Poppins. Free (under age 12).

Our Changing World - Earth Day Program - Garden City. At Long Island Children's Museum, celebrate various Earth Day activities and crafts.

Beauty & The Beast - Islip. At CM Theater, this is a live production.

Seatuck Family Nature Club - Islip. These programs will be geared around the current season and include topics such as seasonal birds, tremendous trees and signs of the season. Free

Sunday Kids Club - East Hampton. Drop off kids for a morning camp at Hampton Kids.
