These days you can tell the kids to take their sibling rivalry into the arena at one of Long Island's thrilling laser tag venues. This competition-style activity engages players physically and mentally as they strategically attempt to tag the opposing team while not getting tagged themselves. But think fast … or tag, you're out.

There are some great spots to play laser tag in Nassau and Suffolk counties, so get ready to think on your feet and have fun. Many of these facilities offer other attractions like go-karts and arcades to get the whole family playing together. We've also included a couple of options where the laser tag comes to you, so you can plan the activity in a convenient location like your backyard or a nearby park.

Laser Tag in Nassau County

Active Kidz Long Island — Jericho

This 2,200-square-foot arena is set up to look like a post-apocalyptic world of "Terminator" and "Transformers." In addition to laser tag, there is also an inflatable fun zone, adventure maze, toddler center, a cannonball blast, an arcade, glow-in-the-dark dance room, and a rock climbing wall. There are also two-party options available. Note: Kids must be ages 5 and older to participate.

Laser Bounce — Levittown

Take the kids to an arena that offers targets, strobe lights, special-effects lighting, glow-in-the-dark and black-light obstacles, and a booming sound system. It also features a bounce area, an arcade, and a section where soft foam balls fly out of blasters, vacuums, cannons, and buckets. This arena offers parties that can include any combination of the above-mentioned activities. Open play times are available daily as well.

Q-ZAR — Carle Place

Competing in a 4,000-square-foot, black-light battlefield, your kids are bound to enjoy testing their skills here. Designed to keep the fun going, there are various power-up modes to ratchet up the laser fun. Sessions run every hour, so drop in anytime they're open. There is also an arcade that offers a variety of options for your kids, including video games, music and dance games, and racing. Plus, ax throwing was recently added to the mix. Birthday party packages are available.

Laser Tag in Suffolk County

Kynytyx — Bellport

In addition to laser tag, Kynytyx has a virtual reality arcade and glow-in-the-dark rock climbing wall on site. Bonus: a soundproofed parents' lounge lets adults enjoy some time sans screeching kiddos. Be sure to bring your pinball A-game for this area too. Standard, deluxe, and ultimate party packages are available, accommodating up to 36 guests. Walk-ins are welcome.

Xplore Family Fun Center — Commack

Kids can test their "Mission Impossible" skills and channel their inner Tom Cruise in the laser maze at Xplore. Fun involving lasers continues in the laser-tag room, which consists of a two-level course. There are hideouts in every corner and places to recharge, so just when you think you're toast, you can get back in on the action. There are glow karts, bouncers, an arcade, and much more at this family fun center.

Long Island Laser Tag

Specializing in mobile events, this company brings the laser tag experience to your home or desired location. Up to 20 players can compete at once with personalized laser blasters and wireless gear. These fully staffed events also include an immersive obstacle arena. Or, go gunless with ZTag, a way to play laser tag that doesn't require anyone to aim at anything. Players earn points and tag others by running, chasing, teaming up, and cooperating.
