Family-Friendly Events on the East End, Hamptons and North Fork, July 12 &13

Summer in the Hamptons and the North Fork is in full swing with more than a few family-friendly events happening from the South Fork to the North Fork. We've come up with 10 must-attend events this weekend.

Greek Festival, Southampton
The Green Orthodox Church, located at 111 St. Andres Road, is hosting an annual Hamptons Greek Festival, which will feature Greek food, carnival, rides and games. The festival will run Friday and Saturday from 4pm to 11pm, and on Sunday from 3pm to 9pm. Pre-registration is required by calling 631-283-6271.

Saturday, July 12

Pioneer Kids, Hampton Bays
Sweetwoodland Farms, located at 45 Old Squires Road, is hosting a pioneer kids event from 10am to noon where kids can meet farm animals, learn how to sow seeds and take a nature hike. The program is open to children ages 5 to 10, but pre-registration is required by calling 631-594-1789. Cost: $25 per child.

Train a Seal, Kiss a Sea Lion at the Long Island Aquarium, Riverhead
Bring the kids to the Long Island Aquarium for a fun-filled day of behind-the-scenes action. During the event, which runs from 10:15am to 2:15pm, kids will be able to get up close and personal with some of the creatures that call the aquarium home. Cost: $155 per person.

Puppet Show, Sag Harbor
Kids love puppet shows and from 11am to noon, the Goat on a Boat Puppet Theatre, located at 4 Hampton Street, will present Robin Hood. The show is recommended for children ages 3 and up. Cost: $12, $10, $8

Drip Painting, East Hampton
Kids can learn to make a drip painting with children's book author Joyce Raimondo at the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center, located at 830 Springs Fireplace Road from 10am to 11am. The program is available for children ages 4 and up. Cost: $35 per child.

Fireworks Show, Shelter Island
Bring the family to Crescent Beach on Shelter Island to see a fireworks show sponsored by the Shelter Island Chamber of Commerce. The fun starts at 6pm. Cost: Free

Lego Fun, Bridgehampton
Your kids will love constructing with thousands of Legos at the Children's Museum at the East End during their weekly Lego club, which is held from 10am to noon. Cost: Free with admission

Street Fair, Mattituck
The whole family will enjoy the Mattituck Chamber of Commerce's annual Street Fair from 10am to 5pm, which will be held on Love Lane and feature food, entertainment and many unique arts and crafts. Cost: Free admittance

Sunday, July 13

Backpack Adventure, Southampton
Sign the kiddies up to enjoy a morning of exploration with SoFo's Backpack Adventure for kids, ages 5 to 7. Your children will learn about earlier Americans and the life of a summer salt marsh during the program, which requires pre-registration by calling 631-537-9735. Cost: $7 per adult; $5 per child.

Create an Ocean of Motion, Port Jefferson
Learn how to set things in motion at the Maritime Explorium from 1pm-5pm. $5 per person.
