Long Island Kids' Activities November 23 & 24: LICM's 20th Birthday, Native American Feast, Thanksgivukkah

This weekend, celebrate the Long Island Children's Museum's 20th Birthday. Festivities include a birthday party, complete with dance performances, along with a puppet show featuring King Midas. In the mood for some pre-Thanksgiving activities? There's a Turkey Trot in Massapequa, a Native American Feast in Glen Cove, and fun on the farm in Yaphank. Hanukkah is also just around the corner. Check out Thanksgivukkah at the Bernice Jacobson Day School and Camp, along with the Hanukkah Family Day at the Suffolk Y Jewish Community Center. Thanksgiving Native American Feast - Glen Cove
This celebration of Northeastern Native American culture at the Garvies Point Museum and Preserve features pottery making, primitive fire building, and cooking demonstrations with food sampling, along with artifacts and tool technology, face painting, and films.

LICM’s 20th Birthday Bash - Garden City

The story of a greedy king who learns love lessons hits the stage at the Long Island Children's Museum. This show is filled with songs and characters, like a small raccoon and a Green Witch.

Massapequa Park Turkey Trot - Massapequa Park
Head over to Lake Shore Drive for this pre-Thanksgiving 5K run/walk and youth fun run.

Soaring Cars Contest - Garden City
Kids act as engineers to construct a car at home with a wing and wheels. Bring the car to the Cradle of Aviation Museum and watch it take off from a 7 foot ramp.

Sea Star Investigation - Bridgehampton
Examine a preserved sea star at the South Fork Natural History Museum & Nature Center to see how this animal and the group it belongs to survived extinction.

Thanksgiving Family Fun - Yaphank
Churn butter, dip candles, create a seasonal candle holder, visit farm animals, and enjoy a wagon ride at the Suffolk County Farm & Education Center.

The Paper Bag Players: Hiccup Help - East Hampton
This show at Guild Hall features funny stories, zany characters, lively music, and props made out of paper bags and boxes.

Thanksgivukkah - Old Westbury
Head over to the Bernice Jacobson Day School and Camp for a mega fun challenge, Hanukkah style, the menurkey of gratitude, and a cookie decorating and menorah making station.

Hanukkah Family Day - Commack
Make latkes and applesauce, create Hanukkah candles, and enjoy a PJ Library reading of When Mindy Saved Hanukkah at the Suffolk Y Jewish Community Center. Other highlights include a bounce house, candle lighting celebration, and the giving out of gelt and dreidels.
