Things to do with kids: Fall Festivals and Fall Fairs for Long Island Kids 2011

Fall festival season is here. We don't even have time to despair the end of summer, and we don't have to, because Long Island is home to some of the best fall festivals and fall fairs in New York. The scenery is beautiful, the rides are fun, and food can't be beat. Grab a sweater, the family and bring your appetite. We've got a list of our favorite fall festivals and fall fairs for you here.

31st Annual Hallockville Fall Festival and Craft Fair
September 17-18, 2011
Hallockville Museum Farm

$7 adults, $5 children (5-12 yrs) and senior citizens
                 Special Family Discount pass for $18
For over 31 years, the Hallockville Fall Festival has welcomed families from Long Island and surrounding areas to take part in a weekend of fall fun! Featured at the fair are Homemade Folk Art from over 50 craft vendors, wool spinning demonstrations, basket making demonstrations, antique tractor pull displays, a vintage car exhibit, delicious food and more. For the kids, the Hallockville Museum Farm has hayrides, live music, friendly farm animals for petting and many more activities! Event held rain or shine.

Admission is Free /Fees for hayrides and wagon rides
Apple picking, hayrides, corn mazes and wagons rides are just some of the fall family fun you’ll find at the Pumpkin Fall Festival held at Harbes Family Farm and Vineyards! Each location is hosting a fall festival and the website allows you to look at each location to see what activities are being held. Parking is free, check to website to find more information on ride rates.

Long Island Fall Apple Festival

Colonial games and storytelling, hayrides, live traditional music, apple pie contest and more await you at the 22nd Annual Apple Festival at the Sherwood Jayne House. If your inner baker is resounding, enter the apple pie contest for a chance at winning. Fall fun for everyone!

Wonderful food, live entertainment and hayrides are just some of the fun events featured at the Fall Festival at Cooperage Inn. And the food is worth mentioning again: homemade pumpkin bread, homemade chicken pot pie, bbq-sandwiches, clam chowder, fire roasted corn...are your taste buds dancing in your mouth yet? Food, fun and family entertainment for all.

This is one of the largest Fall Festivals in Long Island and one you don’t want miss! Parking at Huntington Train Station, $1 round-trip shuttle.
